Application

Automotive

Fast, controllable UV curing for bonding and sealing automotive parts, integrated with the PLC on automated lines.

Awellcure 8-channel UV LED spot curing controller with a touch screen and eight spot curing heads on flexible cables

Automotive manufacturers use UV-curable adhesives to bond and seal parts, as do the electronics, optics, metalworking and medical industries Awellcure serves. A UV LED cures the adhesive in seconds, without a warm-up period and without heating the part, so the next step on the line can follow straight away.

Why UV LED curing fits automotive lines

  • Control from the line: controllers accept MCU, PLC, PC, RS232 or RS485 control and output their working status and alarms, so the curing step runs as part of the automation.
  • Repeatable results: irradiation time and power are set per head and can be stored as programmes, so every part receives the same dose, shift after shift.
  • Several stations at once: spot curing controllers drive four or eight heads, each controlled independently, for multi-station curing.
  • Low heat: UV LED light contains no infrared, which protects plastics and heat-sensitive components.
  • Long life: UV LED sources last more than 20,000 hours, against 1,000 to 2,000 hours for a mercury lamp, which keeps maintenance stops rare.

Choosing the geometry

  • Spot curing for small bond lines and dispensed dots, with spot sizes chosen by lens.
  • Area light sources for curing larger bonded or coated surfaces in one exposure.
  • Curing ovens and conveyors for batch work or a continuous flow of parts.

Before you decide, check the wavelength your adhesive responds to and the dose it needs. How to choose a UV lamp walks through each step.
